Samsung HT-x200R crackling problem - Any ideas ?
Hi,
I have an annoying problem with my Samsung HT-200 system and wondered if anyone had any ideas. I think it might be faulty but just wanted to check.
I have this connected to my TV with HDMI & an optical lead.
The problem is that if a watch TV or use the PS3 after 25 mins it starts to crackle from the speakers. It's fine at first but I've timed it and it's around 25mins then it starts to intermittently crackle, as though there is interference on the speakers.
However, if I just watch a DVD from it then it works fine all the way through the movie. Strange.
I tried upgrading my optical lead because thought maybe that had a fault but the same thing happens.
Any ideas ???
Thanks for your help

Dont use Optical out from TV, go direct from PS3 to amp with Optical and use phono out from TV to amp for TV sound
Using Optical from TV only gives stereo anyway so you are missing out on 5.1 from the PS3

Hi!
I think your unit may be faulty. I purchased the same model to match my le40m87bdx. I had the unit about 5 days, and a "Crackling" could be heard from the left speaker. I unplugged all speakers, re-connected, however problem waqs still there. I took my unit back to **met, and was given a replacement,
However, today, the unit started to make a strange vibrating sound, as if it was trying to load a disc. Turned off, and when powered on, the same thing happened. I am taking it back tonight, will let you know how i get on. To be honest, i may go for another model, as i don't want to keep trailing back to my local retail park. Has anyone else owned one of these, and experienced similar problems?. It would be interesting to know.

Thanks for the updates. I've tried this with the optical lead going straight from the PS3 to the system but am getting no sound at all, so that setup doesn't work.
I rang the shop I got it from today and they said they would test it for me. But it means I will have to take it back and then collect it again. Think I should just get a refund so would love to hear how you get on with this.
Problem is I bought it over a month ago so they are probably not so happy on their refund policy because of the time.

It will work if you turn the sound OFF at the PS3's HDMI
Previously you had PS3 >> HDMI >>TV with OPTICAL from TV to amp, this way you were sending audio via HDMI to TV and back out again.
So you need now to go into PS3 audio menu and and change sound to the OPTICAL connection, you can only have sound from either one, not both

Re: Samsung HT-x200R crackling problem - Any ideas ?
I took my unit back, and was offered a replacement, and to be fair, the service that i received was second to none. I nearly went for a Sony that Comet said was an "Exclusive", i can't remeber the model no, but it came with wireless rear speakers, however these speakers still had to be connected to a power supply, with a cable between them, so i stuck with my Samsung, as i couldn't be bothered re-wiring etc, as i had just removed the cabling from my older Yamaha amp. The Samsung being Piano Black, won again, however i do not think thst the Pseudo 2:1 is anywhere near as good as 5:1.
