My Loft Plan & Speaker Positioning

Hi there, so now my loft is accessible and i have taken a good look around. i am going to put carpet in there. now my biggest question is that this is my final plan and my rear speakers dont really have anywhere to go apart from two wooden beams on each side. they are about 1 or less feet higher than listening position, would that be any good? i read that they need to be higher than 2 feet? anyway here is the plan. And would the bed do anything to the sound?

Looks good to me, and the beams being wood should add to the sound me thinks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: My Loft Plan & Speaker Positioning

also i am going to need about 8.3m speaker cable to get to the back ones, how much is included? if i need more, i know where to get it, how would i join it up?

could i check if i could take the old wire out of one of the ends, like remove the wire from the connector, like unscrew a bit and pull it out, cut a bit of plastic off the ends, twist it and the new wire together and sellotape it, then put the end of the new wire inside the connector and screw back? (figure 1)

or if the wire cannot be pulled out could i cut the old wire from the middle and then extend? (figure 2)

Re: My Loft Plan & Speaker Positioning

The rears have 8m speaker wire and it comes separate to the speakers you have to install it yourself.

If I was you I would by 10m-12m speaker wire thats a bit thicker than the ones included in the htss1100.

why's that?

so the wire to the back speakers comes seperate, but it is 8m for each speaker or total? because i meant for total, not for each speaker, so i would probably have to cut down to size, would i just cut this with wire cutters or is there something special involved?

btw the wire is this one:

8m for each speaker so you should be covered. Nothing special involved in the cutting.
The system will come with instructions telling you exactly how to go about installing it.

Re: My Loft Plan & Speaker Positioning

should i put the centre speaker on top of the tv on the wall or under the tv on the stand, the over the tv option is most towards ear height, but i am not sure whether voices will sound natural like they are coming out of the speaker's mouth, because no tv has their speaker on the top so i am used to having it on the bottom.

but...u lot are the av pros and you know whats best, what do you use muffin and sbowler?

Re: My Loft Plan & Speaker Positioning

but if that is the only reason, i might aswell put it on the wall because the stand is only one shelf and i would have to put it right in the middle, not leaving enough space for my other things, dvds blu rays games ps3, the reciever ect
