Principles for connecting components?

Hi,

The Pana TH37PX70 arrives next week .

I'm trying to work out what I'll need to get to meet my requirements, but am struggling with some of the basic principles perhaps for all components and their connection.

Essentially, I will the have the TV, Humax PVR9200 and PS3 (which I dont; have yet) such that I can watch Freeview, recorded Freeview, play games and watch DVDs on the PS3. But, I want to listen to it all through some 5.1 system (which I intend to get very soon). I also don't want to have any tarting around with swapping cables and have a simple remote to control it all so the kids can use it (including my 3 year old daughter, who is quite smart )

I assume this is achievable??

In terms of connection/setup, how should I generally approach this?

Marc

Re: Principles for connecting components?

Further to my ramblings...

Presumably, a 5.1 surround box exists that will take multiple inputs including a couple of opticals and scarts etc? My Pioneer one I have on my main tv setup has a DVD player in it, but cause I'l planning to get a PS3 for the Pana setup I think a 5.1 box without DVD player would be sufficient?

How much could/should I be looking at for such a component - I've seen some PC type things for £50 or so, but think these will be poor? Any recommendations?

Marc.
