Connection help ? - Sony RHT-G800

Hi , I have just purchased a complete Sony Bravia set up:

Home Theatre RHT-G800
DVD HD Recorder HXD70
40" Bravia LCd KDL-40D3500

I also have Virgin V+ cable

All of the kit has HDMI connectivity, am i right in saying I only need to connect via HDMI cables ?

Will this allow the sound to played through the home theatre when watching cable TV or would I need to connect the audio leads as well from TV to home theatre ?

Does anyone have this or a similar set up that could advise what the best way to connect them up is?

you can use the hdmi straight from v box and dvd to tv for picture and then use optical out on both of the v box and dvd recorder into the stand for the sound mate. That is the best way
