Samsung HT-X30R - picture quite dark

Hello all,

I just bought a Samsung HT-X30R after reading good reviews on here, it's all hooked up to my Sky+ and PS3 now via optical cables and a optical switcher, and to my Philips 42 " LCD via HDMI.

Problem is, the DVD picture seems quite dark compared to 1. my old DVD player which was an ebay cheapy, and 2. my PS3. I have tried swapping the HDMI cable with the one from the PS3 but that makes no difference.
It's not a major problem as I can just watch DVDs on the PS3, with the audio going through the HT-X30R, but I am quite annoyed that the picture is so bad (especially compared with my old DVD player that was connected via a free scart cable!!), and I paid extra for multi-region, which the PS3 cannot do.
I have tried changing the HDMI output setting but the PS3 outputs at 1080i so surely setting the HT-X30R to 1080i should be best? The other settings don't improve the brightness issue anyway.

Anyone else had this problem? Is there a setting I can change?
Thanks
Tom

In all likelihood your LCD will have separate display settings for each input so you will just need to adjust the brightness etc. whilst watching the Sammy. This shouldn't effect the settings for TV / PS3 etc.

Unfortunately not, I have checked.
