Samsung HTX30/TX35 speaker connections

I am considering buying this model to replace an old separates system but I have a question. Although the system is old the speaker cables are of good quality and already laid in place. Is it possible to connect up this system to existing speaker cable or is everything pre-wired? I think its OK at the DVD end but not sure about the speaker connections.

Re: Samsung HTX30/TX35 speaker connections

I can only speak for the TX-35 but it has it's own type of speaker connection at the rear of the unit. The cables are terminated in square, colour coded jacks which means that you can't use existing speaker cable unless it is also terminated with the same type of connector.
On a similar note, does anyone know where replacement cables of this type can be purchased ? I have a large room and the supplied cables aren't really long enough.

Cheers

Re: Samsung HTX30/TX35 speaker connections

thanks ngk2112. It seems like most of these systems have the same problem - all the Philips models seem to have colour coded plugs. Like you there must be many people who buy these systems and find the cables too short!. Has anyone ever found cable lenghts specified in the brochure or even the manual?. You would think the manufacturers would just add spring clip connectors to their systems to at least give some flexibility. OK it would add to the cost but they would most likely sell more systems. Presumably to get over the problem cables are just cut and a new piece inserted - hardly the best way of maintaining sound quality!. Anyone know of anywhere you can buy the connectors?
