I was also going to get a DVD that will upscale a SD DVD to the HD screen I am purchasing, but do I really need to do that?
Would I not be able to connect by existing Toshiba multi-region DVD as follows?:
DVD ----> RGB-SCART---->Sony HTSF-2000----> HDMI---->Pioneer PDP-428XD
From what I have been told, the 428XD will upscale better than a DVD player anyway, so surely routing it through the HSTF-2000 makes sense?
I really don't want to have to upgrade my DVD player until I start going for the Hi-Def DVD's.
Thanks!

The SF2000 doesn't have scart so the best bet is to go DVD --->HDMI --->SF2000 ----> HDMI ----> Pioneer. Most new DVD players all have HDMI now as the standard connection.
