all in one system with divx from usb?

Can anyone recommend a player to me? I was going to go for Philips 3154 system but i read a review it cannot play divx from a usb hard drive? Is this correct?

I have a budget of around £300+... I want small speakers... Im downgrading from separates as my floor standing speakers are too big and need to compact things in my flat.

My intentions are to have a system connected to a hard drive where i can play media files(avis, mp3s) straight off the hard drive... selecting it on the tv. Usually i would play them through vga cable on my laptop... but it will be at the opposite side of the flat now... I dont really want too many seperates kickin about so an all in one would be ideal... Dont fancy having DVD, AMP, MEDIA STREAMER(like popcornhour) all connected... perhaps i just need a wireless media streamer and the philips system?

Any ideas?

The Samsung HTX30R is well within your price range and supports play back of Divx files etc, when external HDD's are connected to the front USB host. Only slight niggle is navigation; as the order of files seems to jump about a bit and can sometimes prove difficult to find what you want amongst a lot of files.

This will do what you want, but you may choose to go for a higher spec'd system. Athough it does also include HDMI upscalling and optical input, so decent for £200!

Re: all in one system with divx from usb?

Worth a look in online user manuals (if available) before you order. I was planning to use my LG502sh in exactly the same way as you until I discovered it cannot properly read hard drives or even 8gb usb stick if there are more than 999 individual files (eg album tracks) on drive. In fact I'm still not sure it could read 1/2 that amount properly. Wish I'd read the manual before I bought it No random play function even if you have a limited number of files to access via USB so you need to select play list each time

Still when laptop plugged into 502 the music stills sounds pretty good.
