Help before I throw it!! HT-TX35R

Just Bought Evan Almighty in HD format and the unit won't play it, it just keeps on searching but then comes up with disc empty!?!?!? I have trawled through the instruction manual but thats no help either!!

how many people have done this now ? heads should roll at retailers,film companies and manufactures !!!!

it should be made easy for the consumer,blueray isn't to bad but people are buyin hd discs for there hdmi dvd players thinking they will play when they won't.

we all said this would happen.

got rid of my 40" philips under the premis that i was missold it says fullHD 1080p on the box but its 768p native res and accepts 1080p throught hdmi downscaled
i swaped for a new Cineos 1080p 47" philips now

btw djcevo there should be a SD layer on that disc (well appears to be on my blueray and hddvd disc) so at least you could switch layers and upcale to 1080i or 720p.

id take the unit back, there are currently NO blueray or HDDVD all-in-ones although philips and sony have some coming out soon

how compatible they will be is anyones guess

movies say "hd-dvd" or "blu-ray" on the box,and the HT-TX 35R,is a dvd player,and says in the box/manual what it plays.."dvd's",nothing more nothing less,and no mention of the words "hd-dvd" or blu-ray.
i feel that the OP made a mistake he wont make again,and its nothing to do with manufacturers,or marketing.
some basic checking is all that would have been needed,as its in the consumers best interests to check out information,not the companies to lead you there.
