Thanks, Michael

I do not think many will have both stands so info is scarce do a search on here for both models. I know the 1000 was close to £1K the 800 is nearer £700. First thoughts are the 800 is far the prettier.

Connect this stand to a sat tuner using the INPUT OPT jack
If a sat tuner does not have the OPTICAL OUT jack connect this stand using the AUDIO jacks.

Re: Sony RHT-G800 Home Cinema System/Stand
Thanks for your reply Gary.I presume the audio leads from Sky Box are connected to speaker connections labelled audio on the theatre stand and not audio under TV label.
The equipment I am having is as follows;
SONY BRAVIA TV KDL 32D 3000
SONY DVD RECORDER RDRHXD970
SONY THEATRE STAND RHT G800
Added to the above will be my Panasonic Sky Box which has no HDMI or optical digital connections.
Despite reading all the manuals I am still confused as to the OPTIMUM way to connect these 4 pieces of kit together to give best sound and vision.
I would be most grateful if you or anyone else [MATT from Sony?] could reply
soon so I can source any additional cables I may require.
THANKS

Gary,
Can you confirm that the RHTG800 stand does pass 1080p over HDMI (not restricted to 1080i as stated in some review) ?

The text below is taken from a review of the stand
While we're happy to see this stand handle HDMI signals, we are slightly put off by the fact that it will only pass through 1080i. This means if you own a 1080p TV, you won't be able to send a full HD signal to it from your Blu-ray or HD DVD player via this stand.
So the answer must be no

Hi, I know the review says the stand will only pass 1080i but could they be mistaken? I say this because of a post on this forum that states 1080p 24fps through the stand.
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...ighlight=1080p
In addition if you look at the user comments on the review that quoted the 1080i limitations, there is a comment that it does pass 1080p:

Re: Sony RHT-G800 Home Cinema System/Stand
I now have my stand set-up to feed a PS3 through the stand to a Sony 46W3000 via HDMI.
I can confirm that the stand passes 1080p/24fps.
Hope this helps to end the confusion.

Re: Sony RHT-G800 Home Cinema System/Stand
I have had this stand for a few weeks and overall I'm pleased with it, it looks good and passes 1080p through which is its best points I think.
I have had a weird problem of my PS3, the picture kept going off and coming back on (I got the PS3 going through the RHT via hdmi). I had the PS3 changed but after a day it did again, I heard the PS3 working though so I thought it could be the hdmi lead, I put the hdmi lead in I use for my Virgin+ and it worked but bizarrely if I plugged the original PS3 lead straight into the TV (Sony 4oW2000) the PS3 works normally, still can't figure that one out, I have brought a new hdmi lead and now use it through the RHT.
What I would like to know is it possible to set up the PS3 to use both a hdmi lead and optical lead to go through the RHT? Same for my Virgin+, HDMI for Pic and optical for sound? I have asked my local Sony centre and they have no clue.
Are there any settings available for the RHT-G800? It would be good to see how other people have it set up.
Also can you set the PS3 for 24fps manually? Everytime I try it stays on Automatic.

Re: Sony RHT-G800 Home Cinema System/Stand
Hi I was wondering if you can help since you have one
Im thinking of getting this stand , 40 or 46 tv, sky hd , ps3 and prob a dvd/hdd recorder (ive got an older sony one already)
Is the stand any good and sorry to ask a stupid question but why link the HDMI up to TV/Sky/PS3 if the stand is only for sound
would I be limted by the number of HDMI inputs for the stand (x2) since I would have 3 input units. And can the stand handle the optical inputs from the sky, dvd, and ps3 also?
The stand looks the business
Any advice welcome

I have this stand with a Sony KDL40X3500, PS3, HXD-RDR970 & Sky+ and after some fiddling with the menu it works great.
Using HDMI control makes it all very easy once set up but my wife likes to use the Sky+ remote only but I cannot get the remote to control the volume, even though in theory it should work. I've tried the "0000" code but still no joy. Does anyone else have this problem or have they found a solution?
