The question is... The Sony upscales to 1080i whereas the Panasonic does it to 1080p. What is/Would I notice the difference?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if there is a yes/no answer to this. When I was researching a plasma purchase recently (went for a Panny 42PX70) the regular advice I got was that 1080p was not a tangible improvement on anything less than a 50 inch screen, and that viewing distance counted a lot i.e. if watching TV/films from 8 feet you'd notice no difference BUT if you were playing games and sitting 2 feet away, you might notice a slight improvement.
I went with the "no vote", used the spare cash by not investing in 1080p to buy a Sky HD box that outputs at 1080i which is superb.
So, my opinion is that you'd notice no difference between 1080i and p. But others may think differently. Anyway, that may or may not help
