Re: Panasonic SC-PT450EB-K All in One System Reviews

Hi,

I've just bought the PT450 (hasn't arrived yet) and I've got a couple of questions.

There seems to be limited details on what connectors it has on the box. Could someone tell me how many optical inputs it has on the back?

Thanks

Stephen

Re: Panasonic SC-PT450EB-K All in One System Reviews

Hi

I'm new to all this HD stuff and connections. I'm just about to buy a PX70 and Sky HD. Normally I would connect my Sky+ to my amp using an optical cable. If there are no optical inputs to the PT450 how do I get Dolby Digital out of my Sky HD box?

Thanks
Steve

Unfortunately you can't. I ordered the 450 without reading the specs properly so can now only get strereo out of my SkyHD box. That'll teach me to read the small print. Anyone who has Sky+/HD considering this system are advised to get the 550/850 which have optical inputs.

Re: Panasonic SC-PT450EB-K All in One System Reviews

I have one of these (PT450EB-K) and have just purchased a Sky HD box.
If I plug the sky into my PX70 via HDMI and then connect the PT450 via the other HDMI socket, will I get full surround sound?

Also.... does anyone know if you can get the PT450 to run as multi region?
Thanks

Afraid not. 5.1 not supported through HDMI, only optical. Dolby Pro Logic 11 does do a good job at vitual surround though.

So the 550 and 850 definately have opticals, looks like it'll have to be one of them then, have the systems got AM/FM radio tuners?

Re: Panasonic SC-PT450EB-K All in One System Reviews

Hi

Ive just brought this system, been in home about an hour, not set it up yet, Ive been looking at different systems for a couple of weeks but im on a tight budget so when i seen this for £169 i snapped it up!
Not sure what to expect yet but ive heard alot more good than bad...(actually not heard any bad about this system)

I have a watson 42" plasma (not HD)
Sky plus
Xbox 360

Anyone recomend the best way to set these up ? Im useless at stuff like this.
