Surround sound Wiring problem -no tv sound

Hi Guy's,
I just received my new system today ,it is the LG LH-T550TB system and as i already had all my speaker wires laid under my living room floor it was just a matter of plug and play OR SO I THOUGHT !!! Problem 1)after connecting all the speakers up and playing a dvd i am getting sound from all speakers except the front middle speaker but when i do a sound test it is working ok, Any ideas guys?? 2) I do not get any sound from my LCD TV although i have connected the dvd to tv with a scart plug,I do get a great picture but no sound is this the norm??

Many Thanks in advance guy's.
