Sony HT-SS1000 Video Issues

I have just purchased a HT-SS1000 home cinema surround. I already have a Bravia 40" X2000, PS3 and Sky HD and wanted a home cinema.

I went for the SS1000 as it had 2 x HDMI\in and 1 x HDMI\out. After connecting all the systems I was miffed that there was no sound coming out of the SS1000 speakers unless I connected a optical or coaxial digital audio cable.

The issue here is (being a complete Sony setup, except the Sky HD box) there is not enough Optical connections. Why have Sony provided a Coax to the DVD input connection considering the systems i have do not have a COAX out.

Why doesn' the SS1000 pass audio as well as video via the HDMI connection which would resolve the issue?

I think the only option i have is get a optical to coax convertor which is very disappointing as I am sure I will get some signal loss.

The second issue is there is a Video 1 input, but there does not seem to be a video in connection to this input only Audio inputs. Has anyone connected a video input to Video 1.

Re: Sony HT-SS1000 Video Issues

I thought it passed sound to the TV through HDMI just not from the amp.

Also Video 1 is just for sound.

What connections have you got to pass through the system?
