Yamaha AV3029

Ive seen this on pixmania for £245

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/4151...ker-set-5.html

It says 5.1 but it comes with 2 tall speakers and 3 small ones but i dont see a subwoofer which gives it the 5.1 status. Do the tall speakers have a subwoofer built in or would I need to buy a seperate subwoofer for it?

Thanks

Re: Yamaha AV3029

I think that set-up looks interesting & especially in the looks department. For the price (plus £12 delivery) it's not bad as that speaker package alone used to sell for about £160 cheapest price.

The bass reflex probably makes up for the fact that there is no subwoofer. I actually posted a question about this in the 'Speakers Forum' but haven't received a reply.

Though from what I understand a separate sub is recommended to create a greater bass effect. A sub certainly appears in the product info sheet for these speakers :

However the NS-P125 package looks to have been replaced by this one which costs a bit more :

Not sure about using Pixmania. I've registered on their site & when you add something to your basket they try & sell you a load of other stuff by placing it into your basket together with your order. You then have to delete all this 'junk' to get the price back down again

Apparently after placing your first order they contact you & request for identification to be sent so they can process your order.. Now surely if you pay by credit card & they send to the billing address on the card then what other ID do they want ?

If they request something like passport well they can get lost !

Re: Yamaha AV3029

Ive just received the AV3029 from pixmania today and im in the process of installing it. I can see a output slot for something but it doesnt show up in the manual.

If you look below the subwoofer output theres a little slot, can anyone tell me what its for? is it a hdmi slot?

Cheers

btw it comes with NS-P125 speakers

No idea what that slot is for. And you are right it doesn't say what it's for in the manual !!! It's probably for subwoofers with different connectors, but I've never seen such a connection for a subwoofer

It's not an HDMI slot, the RX-V359 only doesn't have HDMI inputs.

Normally if connecting a sub you would connect it to the round phono jack.

Re: Yamaha AV3029

Here :

http://www.yamaha-uk.com/speakers_su...category_ID=33

These speakers are best bought together as a package as it works out much cheaper.

Unfortunately Pixmania do not have the AV-3029 anymore. This package is no longer available & at the price of £250 which they were selling it for it was a bargain ! The NS-P125 speakers (all 5 of them) are quite expensive when bought seperately.

They will be available as the AV-3121 so Pixmania may in due course be stocking that system.
