Sony DAV-DZ810w, SkyHD, XBox and a Plasma

Ok, got a whole load of new kit for my new place. Question is, how do I get the best out of it?

I am unsure of exactly what HDMI can do, it still seems a bit vague. Can I do this:

Sky HD box - HDMI switch box (via HDMI cable)
Xbox - HDMI switch box (via HDMI cable)
Sony DZ810 - HDMI switch box (via HDMI cable)
HDMI switch box - Plasma (via HDMI cable)

Sky HD box - Sony DZ810 (via optical cable)
Xbox - Sony DZ810 (via optical cable)

Will this give me high definition where available, standard definition and all playing through surround system?

Is there any better way of doing it?

Cheers.

I have all your kit plus a PS3...you are nearly spot on......only two changes to what you have above.

XBox wont output via HDMI so you need a component connection - the standard xbox lead - to the TV - the TV should have one of these (that takes care of HD quality video, for DD audio use Optical out to the Sony as above).

The sony only has one optical in so you'll need an optical splitter £4 from maplins to allow two optical ins from Sky and XBox at the same time. This means sound from either Sky or Xbox but not both at same time.

Good luck.
