Sound Probs on Sony GX300

right here we go
Hitachi 32" ws tv direct to Pioneer dvd/amp surround sound system via scart
Hitachi 32" direct to Sony GX 300 via scart then on to Cable Digi Box by scart

everything bisual seems fine

Amp SS system connected to cable box by rca also to GX300 by optical

when I switch to playing a dvd on the GX300 sound drops really low?

take out optical no change
take out RCA no change what is the sound doing anyone any ideas please
