Choice - JBL DSC 1000 v/s Sony HT SL500

Hi all

Helping my brother buy a new Home Cinema System and now at a stage where we need some feedback and real world experience of our shortlist.

The TV to be used will be a Sony KV - XR29M80/50 and has Component Input.

The choice is between a JBL DSC 1000 - http://tinyurl.com/7y79t

Or a Sony HT-SL500 http://tinyurl.com/4cf4z with a Sony DVP-NS585P dvd player http://tinyurl.com/4f6df

Has anyone used any of the above? Any recommendations/feedback positive or negative appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi cloudchaser - I've been looking at the Sony HT-SL500 - helpful young man in John Lewis gave me a guided tour yesterday.

No great technical advice for you I'm afraid but, if you do go ahead, have a look at RobertWhyteLtd.co.uk - under £200 inc delivery compared with Lewis's £299 and Amazon's £262. Seems kosher but can't help being a tad suspicious ...

How did is sound to you as a consumer? Anything you did not like it when you heard it at John Lewis?

Called Robert Whyte - phone rang for more than 5 minutes before someone answered - they dont have any stock and the lead time currently is 6 weeks which is a long way off.
