Selection Help

Hey All,

I am looking for an all in one system that does not need or include a player.

Something like the logitech Z-5500 would be ideal, but it doesnt support HD Audio.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It would be used for the PC, Blue Ray player and Sky HD

Cheers

Hello.. I've just ordered the Philips HTR5224 7.1 system which just might be the system you're looking for.

HTR5224/12 Philips Digital AV receiver system HTR5224 - Philips Support

Its cheap (on pixmania) and it supports HD audio (PCM) however it can't decode bluray HD-sound by itself (TrueHD or DTS-MA) but if you already have a bluray player chances are it already decodes the HD audio and can spit it out in uncompressed form through HDMI to allow playback on the Philips. To me it seems like a perfect budget match if you have already got a blu-ray player capable of outputting uncompressed HD-sound (like PS3). But the HTR5224 doesn't have analog surround inputs so if you want to use surround from your PC it would have to be connected trough HDMI, coax or optical.

But if you want an all-in-one system that can also decode compressed HD sound by itself I'm afraid you'll have to up the price considerably (probably almost double the price compared to the HTR5224). But if you're willing to do that then there would be loads of options
