Sony DAV DZ100 and a Skybox

A friend has a Sony DAV (one SCART socket), a Sky+box (2 SCARTs) and a Toshiba Regza TV (2 SCARTs).

The connection at present is one SCART lead between the TV and the Sony, and one lead from the TV to the Skybox. However, the Sony won't play surround sound from the TV although it will play from DVDs.

Have we got the connections incorrect? I hope this should be fairly simple for someone to sort.

Thanks.

I dont really know what you have here but I feel bad about a new poster getting no replies.
Welcome.
I assume your friend has some sort of all in one home cinema dvd system that sends the pic by scart to tv. I would be looking for some sort of aux sound input and send the sky sound to that with the sky pic going by scart as it now does.

Thanks Tom. The Sony is, as you say, a combined home theatre and DVD player, and has a single SCART socket (apart from TV and radio aeriel). The problem is that we think we did have it working with the TV and surround sound before the Skybox was upgraded to the + version which meant that the DVD recorder which at that time was part of the set up wasn't required anymore. There was also a SCART switching unit to accommodate all the leads.

Check to see what other inputs, if any, the surround system has and report back.

edit
And get the model number of the system.

Attached is a pdf from the Sony instruction manual for the back of the unit. There isn't anything on the front. Doesn't look like there are any other inputs, but why would the manual/screen on the unit see say it can output to TV if it can't?

Is there something on the Skybox setup that needs looking at? Does it have an option for outputting the sound?

The model is the DAV DZ100

There are stereo inputs to the rear R & L Audio In (Line). Can these connect to the sky box? I dont know what outputs it has. My old pace box had R & L Audio Out.
