Surround Sound Help

OK so I am at a bit of a loss when it comes to surround sound systems and connections required to be honest.

My parents have a Samsung HD TV, a Sony Blu Ray player, a normal Virgin Media Box, and a Nintendo Wii all in the front room. I am looking into trying to get a surround sound system that works with all the above mentioned components.

I dont really understand what is on the market for the above. Most surround sound systems on the market seem to have an all-in-one option with a DVD or Blu Ray player, which I dont really need do I???

Buy PANASONIC SC-PT870EB-K | 5.1 dvd home cinema system with direct ipod dock - Home Cinema Systems | Comet

This looks quite good, as I like the added idea of ipod dock, as both my parents own an iPod Nano. But it has a built-in DVD player, which isnt really required, and I dont really understand if I can connect all the components that is needed???

ANY help much appreciated, £500 is probably top of the budget, I would love to be able to get something a bit better quality, but alas, dont really have the budget.

I have a BOSE ipod dock myself, and love the quality, but dont think I will be able to get anything by BOSE for £500 that fits the bill required, I have seen 5.1 systems by BOSE, but no receiver, or anything, so does that mean I cant connect any of my parents components to these systems???

Re: Surround Sound Help

An all in one system is always going to have a player in it, by definition, so you can either take one of these and have a spare player or you could buy seperates, a 5.1 speaker package then add a separate AV receiver
