What's your budget Steve?
What do you want? Blu-ray player or just DVD?

Re: home cinema newbie

Look here as a guideline in prices Richer Sounds - The UK's Hi-Fi, Home Cinema & Flat Panel TV Specialists! remember for full HD you need Blu-ray.
P.S. Do yourself a very big favour and stay away from all-in-one systems.
WHY!
1. not upgradable without throwing the whole system away.
2. any part goes wrong then again throw the lot away.
3. lack of connectivity for other devices like SKY, Xboxes, PS3's, HTPC's and the list goes on.

update

hi guys so i have an update if you can help out?
on the back of my tv i have
1x hdmi
1x dvi
1x optical
and audio sockets

my question is this, i have standard sky with no hdmi or optical out/in. does this mean if i watch the tv through my sky box i wont get surround sound? if i get home cinema package will i be able to get surround sound and connect my dvd player to my tv, bearing in mind the inputs i have on my tv? or will it mean me sacrificing something ?

regards
steve
