| Cinema Setup - Need Help Please?
Hi all,
It all starts with a CRT TV, a Sony STR DE435, a home made sub (that kicks arse) and a new version of Star Wars digitally remastered - I was 25 at the time and I was hooked. 10 Yrs on and the equipment list has grown, the tech is well, techi and I'm confused!
My equipment to date:
Panasonic 42" G10 plasma (delivering on Monday),
The same old but still bloody brilliant SONY STR DE435 5.1 amp
the factory front speakers for the amp, centre speaker and rear surround speakers,
Sky + box (soon hopefully to be HD+),
A Sony RDR GX350 upscaling DVD recorder and
A Sony PS3
---------------
Before I had the PS3 and the new G10Panni it was a simple case of connecting the speakers to the AMP via the wire inputs (not RCA - 5.1), with RCA outs from AMP to SKY+ box and also to the DVD recorder
A SCART from the DVD recorder to SKY+ box
and A hdmi cable to old panni PZ81 plasma from the DVD recorder.
That was generally that! and it all worked great!
Now I will have the new G10 and a PS3 and soon SKY HD+ I would like to know the best way to set this little lot up please.
The sound I got from the speakers was good but with a very small amount of hiss. Should I get a digital cable from SKY HD+ box to the Amp? There is only 1 digital input on the SONY Amp. However there is a digital out on the PS3 and i'm assuming 1 on the SKY HD+ box also. so how do I connect both those to the Amp and how does the Amp differenciate between sources? - Am i confusing myself?
Should I connect the DVD recorder to the SKY HD+ box? or will recording even an hour long episode of True Blood be too much data to put on a standard DVD RW? if so - Can I record SKY HD content direct to the PS3 hard drive?
Should I connect the PS3 to the SKY HD+ box via HDMI or the standard HDMI-componant cable i got with the PS3?
Do I connect this multi-out HDMI cable to the SKY HD+ boxs componant inputs and also a HDMI cable straight to the TV(as there are 2 HDMI outputs on the PS3)?
Do I leave out the DVD recorder completely?
I know this seems a simple setup but I'm not very good with cables especially when there's more than i had before.
I'm also considering calibrating the G10 myself as the info on this forum seems to suggest its quite an easy task although time consuming?
WHAT SHOULD I DO PLEASE!!!!!
ANY HELP WOULD BE MASSIVELY APPRECIATIVE
Many thanks
Stuart
