Samsung HT-TZ325 "Pro logic II not working"

Hi folks Bought a sammy 325 today and spent the given time setting it up and re cabling my entire living room. ( like you do)
Put a cd into the unit hit the PL II button and nothing happened.
Both the Mode and effect button do nothing.
Tried it with a usb stick and running the tv through the AUX input and got nothing.
Sound comes from the fromt left and right sub and center dialogue but nothing from the rear surround speakers. What do you think?? Faulty or not??
Any advice would be great thanks

Hi m8, just got one of these Monday myself. I've tried those buttons when watching digital in (optical) and they do work. However it is dependent on which mode u are in. The prologic II function is only available when in stereo mode.

Re: Samsung HT-TZ325 "Pro logic II not working"

The pro logic II button physically did nothing at all, would not change mode or any thing and the effects button did not work either. So I took it back and had another, tested it in the shop and it worked fine got it home...... worked once when i initially set it up and then it stopped working again. nothing from the bottom left quarter of the remote. I spent 50 minutes on the phone to Samsung and they had no answer... Soooooooo I took that one back and got an LG 554 htk and it's all peachy cool no matter what I try and do with it it works great. USB pro logic II, AUX Pro logic II.... CD's Pro logic II. So that was my conclusion

Actually I have the same problem.

I got mine today, but the pro logic II mode and offset buttons do nothing at all nor does the dsp / eq button.

I have tried it with the following.

Audio CD
DVD
Radio
Streaming Via BlueTooth
Optical In from cable tv
Aux in from tv

with optical cable without optical cable. HDMI audio is OFF so that shouldnt effect it.

Any Ideas ? Please..

Also someone please explain what stereo mode is.. the manual refers to the system having to be in stereo mode a lot but nowhere does it say what stereo mode is, theres no option to select it..

I assume the display on the reciever should change when i press the mode button to tell me what mode im in ?

Hi mate,

Don't know if you'll see this post but I've sent you a PM asking if a new remote got you sorted.

I have another thread detailing the same fault.

Cheers.

I got mine from Amazon too, I wonder if Amazon got a bad batch in...

Something to note tho is that when amazon buy from samsung they buy the goods but dont buy the waranty, so you dont get the samsung waranty you get the Amazon waranty.. For faulty goods Amazon usually just send out new as they have no engineers..

When my new one arrives tomorrow or sat I will update again..

I just hope I dont get another faulty one...

Well new one arrived today (YES SUNDAY) from city link.. (was supposed to be here between 8 and 12 on sat lol)

Plugged it all in the dolby buttons worked perfectly fine changed sound settings etc could select studio, cinema, matric etc..

BUT.....

Then I plugged in the MIC ran the ASC and it finished setting up speakers... and the prologic buttons dont work anymore.... so this ones going back too...

I think amazon have a bad batch as everyone that has this problem got thiers from amazon.. I am going to get a diferent model instead..

Mobil great answer.

On my new (2nd system) turning ASC off does re-enable dolbyII functions..

But on my old one just doesnt work, you cant even turn asc off.

Surely the ASC function shouldnt disable these functions..

Well glad you knew cuz samsung didnt lol and they told me the units were faulty lol... ...

Im glad the ASC fixed the issue... (tho it never occured to methat it was a mode you turn on and off, i always assumed it just set the sound delays from the speakers to make sure you get best sound...)

I was having a nightmare trying to find another system, with as many features.. I even looked at blue ray systems but there are a lot of complaints about the quality of the blue rays on a lot of them.. besides I have a PS3 which is perfect at blu-ray playback.

I looked at sony systems and a lot of people complain thier systems are limited and a lot dont even have optical in and only work with Bravia TV's.. Other sony systems did have optical but no bluetooth... I dont like LG and wont buy thier stuff.. The reasonably priced Panasonic stuff was crap.. The philips stuff while very reasonably priced just hae a good design..

Basically, I wanted a reasonably priced Home cinema system that Had Radio, usb, Blue tooth, optical in, 5.1, 1000w output, looked good, wasnt to bulky.. and for 200 notes this was a bargain, I was prepared to go up to 350 maybe 400 at a stretch but couldnt find anything comparable anywhere... (probably not looking hard enuf)

turning the ASC off mine worked an all , samsung also said they would send me out a new remote and never mentioned this.

Only thing that i find a bit irritating now is that the usb port wont accept my 1TB harddrive (although it does state in the instructions that it may not accept anything above 120GB), other than that as you say ud be hard pushed to find a better system for the money!

thanks!

Great summary. I was beginning to wonder if I would have to look for something else and I really didn't want to have to spend the time doing so as it took me a little while to bite the bullet and get the Samsung system.

So thanks for re-confirming what I thought I knew and that I did get a great system for a great price.

Cheers.

Hi guys first time on here was looking at the forum as i have just bought the above item and the remote didnt work, we had ours from amazon to fone them they sent a complete system out so i checked new remote and still didnt work so i swapped dvd players and both remotes work which leads me to think that it is the player not the remote with the problem, but now some1 has put on about the asr well this just confirms it all you turn it on but nothing is said about turning it off samsung need to update this in the manual, most people will do the asr to check the sounds ok so thats y theres so many people are having the same problem, i was bigging to think i had bought the wrong system but its great.

I got one this week. Page 61. "When ASC function is activated, the DSP/EQ, Pro Logic II and P Bass sound effects will not work."

Has anyone any idea how to find out what sound is being carried when on optical input? I have a Sky HD box connected.

There doesn't appear to be any way of displaying whether it's normal stereo or DD2.0 or DD5.1.

ye i would like to know this aswell. i have my devices connected but i want to make sure that i am getting full DD5.1 or DTS5.1 and not anything else. when i try checking on the ps3 it just shows me the track it decodes (DD trueHD or DTS HD MA) it would be nice if there was an info button that tells you everything like on my TV

I've now discovered if I press the mode button when in D.IN mode I get the following:-

DD5.1 the display stays unchanged on D.IN

DD2.0 the display changes to Pro II

Normal non DD stereo (all SD channels except for Sky Movies) the display changes to Pro II.

DSP/EQ Not working when ASC turned on

If you refer to page 61 of the user manual, it indicates that when ASC is activated, DSP/EQ etc. will not work.
I have also found that once a DVD is playing you cannot change settings, if you press the menu button, this takes you back to DVD root menu, you can then change DSP/EQ settings, pressing the play button resumes playing at the point you left off. Hope this helps.
