Hello
Wondering if you guys could clear up a few things. I have owned a Panasonic SCHT500 for some time which is a 500watt all in one system. I am telling you this just so you AV philes are aware of what I have and am used too. I have been happy with this system but no longer have it.
I have a PS3 and a Phillips 42 PFL 7603D. For some time I have been looking to compliment it with a cinema set up. As I have been happy with the sound of my trusty Panasonic, I thought of just buying another all in one system instead of seperates.
As my PS3 supports various HD sound formats I thought well I may as well take advantage of this but this is where I get confused with regards to the all-in-ones - and how it all works, whether the all-in-one needs 1 or 2 HDMI's to enable it to process the HD sound from the PS3 - so that they all connect together etc. If this is the case can somebody recommend me a model? I know that I can connect to an All-in-one via the audio ditial out from the PS3, but I hear that this does not have the bandwidth to support the bitrate of the HD audio or it downscales it?
Also, I have been looking at a seperate solution and have read some glowing reviews of some ofthe Onkyo AV receivers which can support HD sound - from about £250.
One of the reasons for me choosing and all-in-one system is the cost compared to a seperate set up but will only consider-an-all in one solution providing that I can play the lossless HD audio from the PS3 through it.
If this is not possible then I will go the seperate route, which brings me to ask about the speakers, as there is no point pairing up an Onkyo with some cheap speakers though I really do not want to spend more than £250 on a 5.1 speaker set bringing the whole system price to approx £500.
Also
How good are the all-in-ones compared to a cheapish seperate solution, as even my 5 year old Panasonic still manges to shake the place when I crank it up while still soundind good.(to me)
All of your feed back will be much appreciated. Thanks
