Sony DAV-S880 failing

Seems to be dying. Symptoms are that it goes dead. Switch off at mains and on the box. Turn back on. Standby light comes on. Functions able to be selected but then a few minutes later, dead again. Is this a known fault? Are they repairable or is it time to go and buy something new - a double-edged sword if ever there was one.
