Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema
Hi I'm new to home cinema and thought at one time I'd go for separates but now I've priced them I think I'll go for a system. I have a Panasonic Plasma tv( just bought this week ) so it will connect up with a Panasonic system easily enough. I fancy the look of the SC- BT200 Blu Ray cinema system it says the rear speakers are 'wireless ready' but as I have wires already going to where I'd place the rears does anyone now if these can be wired.
Hope someone can help me on this

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema
The key here is the "ready" bit! Out-of-the-box it is wired, but you can upgrade it to wireless with an extra bit of kit (a Panasonic SH-FX70).
Still a bit of a cheat, in my opinion, as you have still have to wire your speakers to the rear receiver, it's just that you don't have to run the wires all the way from the head unit...

Hi cheesemaster Thanks for the info. That suit's me fine as I have speaker wire already run to the rear so I do really want to hard wire them .

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema
I have a question regarding the wiring on this unit. Is the speaker wire hardwired into the speaker or are there terminals???
Thanks in advance.....
Also (stupid question) is there connections to wire up to my Sky+ (not HD) box.

The speakers have terminals except for the sub woofer which is hard wired.

Hi
For the rear speakers I'd defo go wireless with the wireless kit (Panasonic SH-FX70) The wires fo the front speakers r around 3 metres long from memory. If u speak to Panasonic about longer runs and see what they advise depending on the extra length u need.

No - it's not multi-region yet. "All" region DVDs are effectively "region-free" so they will play on any machine.
My local dealer says they will be happy to do the multi-region update once they get the go ahead from Panasonic (which they have on all their older players). It's just a bit too new for them to do it right now.

Sounds like a scam by Panasonic to find a new way to to dodge their warranty responsibilities. All that adding a length of cable will do is increase the resistance in the path from the amp to the speaker. As the speakers in tis are rated at 3ohms it's unlikely this would have any noticeable effect on this figure and therefore no effect on the system.
It's not like you get a maximum length of cable allowed warning with a separate AV Amp ! You may also want to put better quality speaker cable in this system which will also invalidate your warranty.
Chancers !

Hi hybridtheory I saw the wireless system but as I'd run fairly expensive cable some years ago thought hard wired would be best Already come off buying separate speakers/amps but now I'm wondering if that is the way I should go to keep my wiring in use Perhaps I 'll put the question on one of the other threads and ask.
Thanks Again TomR

As SilverBlue says, in real terms there is not really an issue with using different/extended wires in an electrical sense.
The only "problem" with extending the wires that I can think of is that it's a proprietary moulded plug on the head-unit end of it - very slim plugs, all channels are tightly packed together.
There's no way you can get your current wires into the box unless you attach your existing wiring to the chopped off ends of the the wires from the plug (if that makes sense)... All a bit of a botch job!

Hi Decided last night to ditch the idea of a Panasonic all in one and I have ordered a set of Kef 1005.2 that way I'll keep my wiring as it is All I need now is advice on which amp to buy.
Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema
Does anyone know the length of wires for the surround speakers? My rear right speaker should be fine but my rear left would mean running a cable round the walls which would be approximately 3m each i.e. I would need the cable to be 6m or just under.
Also if I go wireless do the surround speakers that come with the kit still have to be plugged in to a wireless receiver?

Hi
HMDI from ur BT200 to the TV. Two optical cables, one to the TV and the other to the Sky box. Optical input 1 to the TV, optical input 2 to the Sky box. Remember to set ur optical output to Dolby digital on the Sky box. Services>System Setup>Sound Settings.

Hi
Does the SC-BT200 automatically upscale DVS's or is there a menu where it has to be set to upscale?
Thanks

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema
Hey guys looking at this on ebay
Panasonic SCBT200 BLU-RAY Home Cinema Multiregion DVD on eBay (end time 05-Jul-09 22:15:51 BST)
It is says in the description:
This player has been modified to play DVD regions 1-6. (Region B only for Blu-Ray)
The Blu-ray player is fully upgradeable with official firmware updates
Does the bit in red mean that the BD play side will be upgradeable to Region free via the firmware?
I haven't had a response from the seller yet....

That's fine, we watch everything through sky anyway. When we do occaisonly watch via TV or freeview it would be worth listening to it through the system.

its simple to understand..
it means region free for dvd, but blu-rays are locked at uk only..it says it plain and clear.!
" This player has been modified to play DVD regions 1-6. (Region B only for Blu-Ray)"
and "official firmware updates", means that the player can still be updated even though its modified, maybe if new features,or fixes are available...but NOT region free for blu-ray, ever..
