Thanks for clearing that up. Looks like I'll just have to find a chip to get it done.

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

Thinking of getting this system but am just wondering why in America this system is a 7.1 suurond sound yet here in the UK it is sold as 5.1? also what is the model number of the BLU Ray player that comes with this system just wondering lol. Also is this system to be recommended for a Tech noob who has just purchased a 42" G10 Panny and would very much likes the idea of the Viera Link and the one remote function!

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

Hi I've just upgraded from Panasonic DVD home cinema system to the bluray system. Very impressed with the sound quality, the sub woofer adds a very meaty bass to the system compared with my 350. Just watched Gran Torin, and the souped up cars sound very realistic. Picture is ok but I've yet to be overwhelmed by bluray picture (had a PS3 before) may be that my panasonic does a good job with SD (TX-37LZD70) and the tv is 37inch that its not that noticeable.

Viera link works well all from either the TV or home cinema remote control

I assume that the system is 5.1 here as they believe most UK lounges aren't big enough to warrant 7.1 - From what I've read you need a big room to gain any benefit of a 7.1 system

You say you had a PS3 before - is the Blu-Ray picture quality better than the PS3 can produce?

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

I must admit I cant tell the difference between the PS3 and the 200 in terms of picture quality but havent really had chance to watch many blu rays in the last week.

Watched a DVD on the 200 last night and the upscaling was very good better than my 350. The main advantage so far over the PS3 is fan noise and the fact that I have 5.1 lossless sound which my 350 couldnt decode via optical from the PS3.

The Viera Cast is interesting but only has u tube and picasso at the moment- videos through utube look very good considering they are being displayed on a large TV

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

Ok cool, thanks for that. I'm hoping it will be a step up in quality from Sky HD.

It looks as though I'll be getting this system. I've seen it for £449 on PRCDirect & I think that represents good value for money I need to buy the wireless box for the rears though so that'll add another £80 (ish) to the overall price...

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

Hi

I've tried playing cd's and my iPod through the BT-200 and only get sound from the front and centre speakers. Is this normal or can I set it up to play sound from all 5 speakers?

Thanks

Baz

Does this system work with the harmony one remote?
I heard that the bt100 wasn't compatible with the H one and wondered whether this was the same?

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

Looks like I’ll have to invest in an all in one to make life easier for the family. So long as I can find one that’s performs well, it would be more convenient. Currently I’m using 3 remotes, can clearly hear the PS3 fan during quiet scenes, it’s a pain searching for the subs on switch with my joint pain, and we have 6 plugs in the mains. From what I’ve read the PS3 takes a lot of power during BD playback, so all things considered it’s time for a change.

I was going to go for the Sony BDV-E300, but a review of the BDV-E500 gave an average score, saying the HD surround is muffled and not much better than SD surround. If that’s the case then I doubt the E300 will fare much better, which leaves the SC-BT200.

From what I’ve read the HD audio is excellent, but the video did not perform as well as Pana standalones in benchmark tests.

I’m happy with the PS3’s pq, but can anyone tell me how the SC-BT200 compares to the PS3 for pq?

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

I’m also wondering about the sub. With it’s left facing speaker cone, it would be about 5 inches from our wall, I wonder if that would make a difference, or it might be a problem, say booming bass bouncing off the wall?

I know some subs have their speakers facing the floor or the ceiling, so it prob doesn’t matter but I’d like to be sure. So far this system is looking like the best option.

Hi

Yeah I'm more than happy with it, its my first surround sound kit and I have a small bedroom so it does everything I need it to do. Make sure u hook it up to a router if u can, theres been a few firmware updates since I bought mine. Think 1.5 is the latest firmware.

Hi

My apologies, 1.4 is the latest version and not 1.5 as I'd said in an earlier post. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi

You should have bought it from Sam's Yer Man in Belfast/Newtownards. I bought my V10 and BT200 from the Belfast branch.

Re: Panasonic SC-BT200EB Home Cinema

hello all,

noob when it comes to av gadgets but interested in getting a 200ebk as its perfect for my budget and a lot less hassle than the seperates route!

just wanted to ask about the connections..if im watching sky or freesat can i still experience the full surround sound as the system is quoted not to have an optical connection on the comet website and argo catalogue!

i really want to get this system to compliment the v10 i want to get next weekend!

any feedback will be appreciated!

cheers

just wanted to ask about the connections..if im watching sky or freesat can i still experience the full surround sound as the system is quoted not to have an optical connection on the comet website and argo catalogue!

i really want to get this system to compliment the v10 i want to get next weekend!

Hi

The BT200 has two optical connections, see the link to the manual I posted on one of the other pages. The V10 has an optical connection that will give you sound for Freesat and the other optical connection, connect to your Sky HD box. Thats how my parents have their BT200 and V10 connected and it works a treat.
