ARGHH
New to this forum but have been reading intently for the last week or so. Had a 42inch PX80 that I got for £500 at Curry's just after christmas and was delighted with it. Problem is that we got burgled last week and it was taken (how they carried the beast away when I was asleep upstairs I don't know!). Too add to this we didnt have insurance (let this be a lesson!)
Anyway, about to replace it and want to keep to a budget for obvious reasons (but also want something that lasts to avoid replacing again over next few years. Narrowed it down to this C10 vs X10 argument, and have been quoted £499 and £619 from JL with the 5yr guarentee (pricematching Richer Sounds). Though it is "only" £120 difference, that is actually about a 25% premium on the C10 price to get the X10 - quite a bit!
I only really use SD inputs for now, but do want to get a Blu-Ray player in the next few years...
They both have identical G12 plasma panels, and I've seen different answers from different places about the V-real 3 or 4 (some say both have 4, most say V real 3 is on the C10).
These are my conclusions:
- The X10 is a bit sleeker looking (not that important)
- The X10 has "eco" mode, dimming the monitor in dark conditions, and not sure if the C10 does
- The X10 has an extra HDMI socket (3 vs 2)
- The X10 has had great reviews, especially when it comes to sound quality. This is probably most relevant as the C10 is yet to be properly reviewed.
Apart from the last point there, I dont really see it worth it to spend 25% more just for the X10. Might well buy tomorrow from JL - havent been watching any TV since the last one was stolen as cant bear to use my rubbish old JVC thing!.
