IMO, I would save the money you are going to spend on the GT-3000 and either wait until you have enough to get a Optoma HD65 or HD700x or get a second hand 720p model from the classified section. With the GT-3000 you won't see much of a difference in PQ than your Hitachi PJ-LC9.

The GT-3000's native resolution is 800x600 so even if you use a HDFury, it will scale the 720p or 1080i image back to 800x600.
