Personal preference but the best printer I've had by far is a Canon Ipixima5000. Absolutely stunning pictures and cheap to run. Epsoms have given me so much grief in the past I will never go near one again, no matter how good they are. Heads block, pictures smearing, misaligement all the time grrr. Yet others rate them the best.
The epson printers we are referring to are far beyond the budget range, the epson printer Vulkan is selling for example uses the same ink technology as it's 44" counterpart the epson 9880 which would set you back over £4K. It's like expecting a Nikon D40 to be made in the same way as a D3x.
