For A4 printing only and no intention of going to A3 sizes, keep to A4 printers and save the money for ink.
Personal preference but the best printer I've had by far is a Canon Ipixima5000. Absolutely stunning pictures and cheap to run. Epsoms have given me so much grief in the past I will never go near one again, no matter how good they are. Heads block, pictures smearing, misaligement all the time grrr. Yet others rate them the best.
