No.

As has been mentioned , there's a lot of invention around specifications - especially those of AV amplifiers.

Perhaps the only critical issue is whether of not a particular amplifier can drive a particular speaker. In this case the impedance of the speaker matters; as does the ability of the amplifier to drive a particular load.

The best advice is to find a dealer you like and ask to listen to some combinations of speakers and amplifiers. Most dealers do part exchanges of kit so often have second hand amplifiers or speakers.
