I've been in a similar position with a memory cards bought from eBay. One was a 2GB SanDisk microSD card which worked for a few months before corrupting itself. The other was a Lexar 4GB Pro Duo which didn't work straight out the packet. Both were from Hong Kong sellers.
You can't even trust the likes of Amazon these days either. I recently bought a 4GB SanDisk Extreme III CF card from them and it arrived with no packaging and no recovery software, which made me suspicious as there's a page on the website telling people to watch out for fakes, and to ensure their cards come in full retail packaging. It's just turning into another eBay since they introduced Marketplace Sellers. Sad times.
