I'll maybe restirct the PS3 to just 5.1 or 5.1dts output. See if it's trying to put too much through the HDMI.

Edit: And turn of the optical settings. maybe it thinks the 5.1 is going through them. Anyone got any experiance of this with PS3 and HDMI?
