I do not get a bright eye piercng picture with oversaturated colours - I get a natural well defined (even on SD) picture with natural colours not a dim wish wash that you get on all but the most expensive plasmas. I would agree with you that certain LCD's do give pictures as you describe - notably Samsungs but not Panasonics.
