I guess we are not comparing eggs with eggs. I can only compare the Goodmans against Sky+ on my LCD, but I have to say, the PQ of SD on Sky for BBC channels is very good. So, perhaps I was expecting too much.
As posted above, on the Goodmans the picture is soft and colours not as vivid.
Again, this is just my experience with my setup.
