At the moment, the PS3 is connected via HDMI, as is the Apple TV (which also connects to the home cinema via phono cables). Finally, the home cinema connects to the tv via HDMI.

I'm a bit confused. Are you assuming that the Sony RDR-HXD870 is a twin tuner PVR, it's not, it's only got a single tuner.
