Retailers often try to bring the manufacturer into disputes like this - but as you know from talking to Consumer Direct, this is a matter between you and the retailer. After all, you gave your 1600 quid to PRC not Pioneer. When you get into these situations for the first time it can be quite confusing, but in reality it's simple - the retailer is fully responsible for the quality of the goods.
