Cool. I'll wait a while longer before I try contacting them.

Update on tv used at night - the black borders don't show any signs of the extreme torching from the corners the last set did. Even though there's a lot of clouding, it's more uniform, rather than being very patchy and bright in one specific area.

Seeing as how I've been testing the tv all day and reading up on it, I can't tell if I'm picking up on something that existed with the previous set or my mind is looking out for more problems. The standard definition upscaling seems to be way worse! There's far more artifacts around objects, faces, even text has blocky patches beyond it's typography. The motion doesn't seem as good either, maybe due to there being more artifacts trailing with everything.

The screen looks washed out. Previous set managed to have deep blacks, yet retain detail (with dynamic contrast and black settings left off). This set looks to have a film over it. The extra settings just get rid of the detail when I try and give it a more punchy look, which I didn't need to do before.

Previous set was smooth with motion even without using motion plus, however the new one seems juddery. Movement is poor and white lines tend to flicker. Using Clear or Smooth preset helps a little, yet gives a soap opera effect. Watched some Transformers 3 with Smooth on and it was quite amusing at how amateur the film looked and yet how awesome the special effects were.

The 3D seems improved compared to the last set. I don't know if that's because I updated with the latest firmware, or the tv sets really vary one to the other. Suddenly the background wasn't as much of a blurry/jarring mess and the foreground subjects were nice and sharp.

So, pros: improved 3d, more uniform black borders on films (even though it still has clouding)

cons: terrible standard definition upscaling, more artifacts, unsmooth motion, dead pixel, washed out look.

More testing to be done tomorrow.
