Like most i was eagerly awaiting and dreading the delivery in equal measures after reading countless threads and posts about the D8/7000 and ES8/7000 sets and all the problems that seem to plague them. I know that forums tend to only showcase the problems associated to such items, but i'm sure you will all agree that you get to the point where you think a good/acceptable set just doesn't exist.
I am really, really, really pleased with this set. I have moved from a 37' Toshiba to a 55' Samsung and the difference is worlds apart. The picture is so vivid, bold, striking, crisp with the most stunning whites and brilliant blacks.
Below are some pics I've taken this evening in a pitch black room using some test slides i pulled off of AVS Forums and some general TV viewing shots. Attachment 307592 Attachment 307593 Attachment 307594 Attachment 307595 Attachment 307596
So far I have only watched a bit of Avatar in 3D but I was completely blown away! (as was everyone else I've shown it too). Again, no clouding/banding on the 3D image at all with only minor crosstalk noticed towards the edge of the screen from time to time.
Watched a fair bit of football so far and only noticed the banding issue once during a close-up panning shot in today's Arsenal vs Chelsea match. My brother who was sat next to me watching the same screen has no idea what banding is and is convinced he saw nothing... I guess with some things, if you don't look for them, then they aren't there.
If anyone is cautious about buying one of these sets... Don't be! I cannot think of enough superlatives to define the image that these display!! I am so happy (and relieved) with mine... Especially after getting a really good deal on it too!
Happy viewing... | Does the BBC HD picture look like that to your eyes? That looks very black even on my TN panel monitor.
Thanks for the pics.
