Stockholm thanks again for your help - the links in the above showed me how to remove the drivers and software for Intel Proset. I was then able to run the mobo driver installer successfully. From there I just had to do a hard reset on my router and reload my router software, and this finally restored the internet connection.

Now, for my next project...
