BethSoft botched Skyrim in the first place.. (Thank you consoles!) Why use their offerings when there's far superior meals on the menu? Using the Vanilla BethSoft textures and meshes is like going into a 5* restaurant and asking them for chips, sausages and beans when compared to mods on the Nexus and Workshop, you could have a medium-rare steak w/ Diana sauce, accompanied with home-cut Maris Piper chips, crisped to perfection
And you could have the latter for the exact same price -
Free.
I'm using Beth HD DLC as a base, with Skyrim HD on top.. Then 'specialised' mods on top of all that.
Needless to say, considering my many-many mods, my version looks awesome!
EDIT:
Look back a few posts, you'll even see high quality meshes for barrels and most other menial items. In one instance, he replaces a mesh for a supporting leg on a bridge, and the (vanilla) texture quality had increased due to that!
He even replaces the 2d chain-link meshes/textures (the things that hold up shop signs) with 3d models... It's sweet.
I'd recommend any static-mesh mods... They increase the graphics (sheer eye-candy) moreso than any texture replacements.
I'm hoping for more down the line, as my game already looks astounding! If I stick in more (high quality) meshes and it will look like a CGI movie!
