Sounds like Iris is stuck closed, simple test to confirm, use a small torch and set zoom to telephoto and look into lens shinning torch inside, if you can see the iris opening/closing with light then Iris ok, if you just see a matt background with no Iris movement, the Iris is stuck!, and lens/iris replacement required (some have seperate Iris, some are complete lens ass'y)
