As it worked on my wife's XP machine (see my post above yours), I used the Compatibility Tab in properties and chose Compatibility Windows XP Service Pack 3 (what she is using), also "Run this program as an Administrator", and for good measure enabled these settings for All Users - Still no success - stumped for now

I think you misunderstood Les, it will work from an external drive, but not from the programs folder, try to run AV2HDR from a usb stick or Sd card if you havent got an external HDD to try.
I am waiting for a program to transfer then I will try from the programs folder again to make certain this is the problem.
