Thanks alasrati and spamcan61,
Though as your answers on the playback seem to give opposite views not sure if I'm straight or not!
Thanks for the thoroughness of your answer alasrati, great news on the cable connections. I have at least 42 strand black and red cable on the KW at the moment but if I do get new speakers I'll consider some new cable then. What strand do you recommend as a minimum?
I think the suggestion of going for a 320gb external drive for only twice the price of a stick is a good idea.
In terms of playback, I'd much rather not shell out the extra that we would need to spend to buy an mp3 player as well. If I was going to get one I'd go for the Sandisk Sansa Fuze at either 8 or 16 gb and probably up the capacity with a miniSDHC. That could add anywhere from £70 to £100 which is starting to really add up now!
So, bearing in mind all the comments on playback, would the following be the best way of filing my music on the external drive or memory stick:
Before transferring any music, set up a new folder for each artist (1st level);
Within each artist folder create a folder for each album (2nd level);
Load the music in its relevant 2nd level folder;
Within each album folder name the tracks with title details. (So individual tracks would be a 3rd level search)
Is that right? Would that allow reasonable navigation?
We are not great single song playing people to be perfectly honest and tend to play a whole album at a time rather then a single track here and a different one there. If I was going to do that then I'd do it on my computer where the music is almost all already stored anyway. (No, my computer is not going in the lounge!!!

) The shuffle is just something hubby discovered and I hope it will wear off.
But if I wanted a certain style of music that required certain tracks only then I suppose I could set them up as a playlist in MediaPlayer on my computer and then give the compilation it's own folder when putting on the external/stick drive. Have I got that right?
One last question are the tracks on MediaPlayer wma? Just curious that's all. If at some point I need to turn them into mp3s I will be here asking how I think!
My head is hurting so much now I need one of these

!
Thanks ever so much for taking the time to explain things to me. You guys are brilliant!
All the best,
Spigs
