AFAIK Civil War is one of the most deep series and is probably best tackled once you are familiar with many of the individual characters story lines. Theydon is a better person to give advice when it comes to Civil War.
You can't go wrong with Walking Dead. I know that I sound like a broken record but it really is a joy to read. I also highly recommed the Boys if you want something a little different and off the wall. Its also out on TPBs so very accessible.
Very good! Some might say X-cellent? (oh, dear).
A few people have commented on keeping the number of series you read, to begin with, in check, so I'm going to try an focus on 2 or 3 for starters.
I think X-Men is where I'm going to start off and your reading list from page 2 looks a good place to start:
Quote:
Dark Phoenix

X-Cutioners Song

Age of Apocalypse 1, 2, 3 & 4

Astonishing X-Men (Joss Whedon) 1, 2, 3 & 4

New X-Men (Claremont) 1, 2, 3, 4

Ultimate X-Men Ultimate editions 1, 2, 3 & 4

X-Men Deadly Genesis
Would you still suggest this as a good way to go through them?

I'll leave the Civil War alone for a bit then, but how about the Superman Earth:One comic, is much prior knowledge needed? The pdf excerpt makes it looks rather interesting.
Thanks for the info!
