Pure audio is supposed to be the best listening experience as there is 0 post precessing what so ever so you know you should be hearing it as "god" intended :D. Also when this option is enable all video circuitry is disabled so that any chance of any noise (electrical) is removed (even though it is likely to be low to none). Take note when Pure Audio is enabled even the from led screen is disabled.

If for example you was watching a good quality encodes bluray and wanted the absolute best visual and crisp audio then you would select this option.

The next best to this is Direct Audio it does state there is minimal processing (to what extent not known) but this option can be used for in put sources that don't use HDMI)
