It seems like it cannot be done and it's probably not worth getting a decent sub when the rest of the system is not really up to it. A better sub woudn't I guess solve your mid-range problem. Even though Gigaworks is Creative's better range an active 7.1 for 300£ shouldn't be that great. Why not consider a 5.1 for now, such as this
