Most warranties only cover the original owner. However, if you've got all the paper and receipts from the original purchase if it was in the UK I wouldn't see an issue in kit not still being covered. At the end of the day all they want to see is a valid proof of purchase, they're not going to do an identity check on you.

For all they know the kit was purchased by someone else as a birthday gift for you so when people say the warranty isn't transferable that's true in a sense but as long as you have the original receipts then take it with a pinch of salt.....
